CopaMX:
The portent
of two champioinships.

Copa MX

The team grew under the hand of Matías Almeyda, it's the gift that keeps giving. Winning the Copa MX of CL2017 was a proof of all that we have walked in the right direction. We won the Cup for the second time since Almeyda came, we did it after almost 20 years of no titles in our home, without losing a single game. That was the fuel for the LigaMX Title.

Liguilla Quarter finals- Chivas Vs. Atlas

We were starting the liguilla, as number three in the general board against our ultimate tapatio enemy in the quarter finals of the Closing Tournament 2017. Regular Tournament

A tournament with surprises, challenges and a hope for the Championship.

It couldn’t have been more special. This tournament was filled with surprises.

In spite of injuries and bad omens, we managed to crown ourselves with a double title, as a League Champion and a Tournament Champion. Both with dramatic finals, the first one in penalty shots and the last one to a strong rival and everyone’s favorite.

We didn’t win our Twelft Star by chance. we had our best players in every match, closing with Alan Pulido as the best player in the season and an important example of the player that Matías Almeyda is proposing.

We faced each tournament with a strong attitude, game after game, date after date, our team was closer than ever. The numbers don’t lie.

Match 1: Chivas 2-1 Pumas
Pumas hasn’t been able to beat chivas in Guadalajara for 35 years.
That’s a long time.

Match 4: Querétaro 0-1 Chivas
Chivas has 6 visiting games without losing Matías Almeyda had directed over 50 league games for the most mexican team, with foundations of a particular group style that would be seen during the tournament.

Match 5: Chivas 1- 1 Santos
Three victories and a tie. Between the League and the Cup. International commitments bring a good pace to clear the road.

Match 6: Atlas 1- 2 Chivas
Alan Pulido, Rodolfo Pizarro y Oswaldo Alanís fight their first Tapatio Classic, while it’s Matías Almeyda's fourth encounter against los Zorros, with 3 victories and a tie. It’s becoming a classic move to defeat the Altas.

Match 7: Chivas 1-0 América
The team extends their winning streak at the CL 17 to seven and wins two classics in a row.

Match 9: Chivas 2-0 Toluca
Toluca takes the “Conejito” Brizuela away from us after a devious move from Rubens Sambueza; Brizuela had a surgery and missed the rest of the tournament. This would bring an moment of sadness for Almeyda’s team, but there, Alan Pulido scores his first couple of goals in for our team.

Match 12: Morelia 0-0 Chivas
Chivas has it’s third game without receiving a goal during the LigaMX, defending the team’s shirt, which places Rodolfo Cota as the second goalkeeper with less scores during the Closing 2017 tournament.

Match 13: Chivas 3-2 Puebla
Orbelín Pineda Has 50 games in the LigaMX defending the Guadalajara Shirt.

Carlos Fierro scores heroically, surprising the goalkeeper Cristian Campestrini , showing the mindset of the team.

The international press celebrated this victory with headlines such as:
"La inspiración genial de un atacante mexicano olvidado sobre el terreno de juego".

Match 10 (pending): Tigres 3-0 Chivas
Chivas lost the game, and would begin feeding off the idea of an "invincible" rival. Both teams would meet again on the final, with a cold plate of revenge.

Match 16: Chivas 1-1 León
Guadalajara has a pass to the Luiguilla of Mexican Soccer, for third tournament in a row.

Match 17: Necaxa 0-0 Chivas
For the second time in a row, Chivas finishes in the first four for qualification.

After a steady tournament and many surprises, the challenges to come would only be greater.
