Liguilla Quarter finals- Chivas Vs. Atlas
The Tapatio showdown
We started the final fight for the championship with the Classic from Guadalajara, facing our local enemy: El Altas. We played the first game in the Jalisco Stadium, with a tradition to defend and the other team, with a curse to defeat.
As a team, we put good soccer on the field of the Jalisco, and we charged against the goalkeeper Miguel fraga, but without scoring. In the minute 29, Matías Alustiza scored the first and only goal of Atlas during the League, thanks to a questionable penalty shot marked by the referee. Our rival won the visitor game, but we didn’t lose our temper and our fans kept their spirits up. This was just beginning and we knew what we had to do to win. The Atlas would have to come pay in La Fortaleza
There’s a lot that the Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajara have more than other tapatio teams - Championships, for example- But we’re proud of our fans and ChivaHermanos of every age and everywhere they are, backing us up in good times and bad times. Thanks to your energy, we leave everything we have on the game, and we have become the proud team we are today.
We will remember May 13th as the day the Serenata of fans came to our hotel, to cheer us up and wish us luck on our coming game of quarter finals against Atlas. We heard your cheerings that night, and we made it our purpose to not let you down. The redwhite fans are our joy.
May 14th came, the local game day against Atlas. We greeted them in our Fortaleza, with our people. The semi Final was at stake and although the opinions were against us, we played with our shirt over our hearts.
In this game Orbelín Pineda gave us a goal shot that killed the wishes of Atlas. They couldn’t keep up with our people and gave under the pressure. The game ended 1-0 to our favor and the global score to a tie. What was done in the regular tournament and our position on the board took us to play for the final
See you, Atlas. 😬
