Suffering and euphoria
The final battle was here. It’s been ten years without a final, but here we were willing lo leave everything in the game in the most beautiful jersey in mexican soccer.
Every bet was against us, but we were sure we could do it, and so were our fans.
On May 25th we played in the field of the Volcán with full of pride, wa had the perfect plan and high hopes thanks to the words of our Pastor Almeyda. We were ready to win this match and gave out a demonstration of our power, our first score was on minute 22, by Alan Pulido. Twenty minutes after, Rodolfo Pizarro scored the second goal that had us dreaming of the Title.
The game was ours, until André Pierre Gignac proved himself in the last minutes of the game, and scored a double goal that put the match to a tie. That’s how the game ended, nothing for any team, but our desire was stronger than ever. We surpassed every expectation, we were invincible.
We had the final battle for the title on May 28th in our Fortaleza, we remembered the Serenata our fans gave us to gain strength and the cheering in the stadium lit up our hearts.
Tigre’s mistakes gave us a light advantage on the first game, but we knew how strong they really were. Almeyda made a great strategy for Monterrey and now he had something up his sleeve.
Our cheering red and white fans outnumbered their blue and yellow fans. It was the perfect setting, and the longest 90 minutes every fan could ever live started. Clawing and roaring, our enemy was going at it, the attack became clear and Alanis turned his left leg on a catapult that landed at Alan’s feet, who shot in the air with poise, the goalkeeper didn’t stand a chance against that and the crowd cheered. We were so close.
Tigres tried to keep afloat, but on minute 70 “Gallo” passed their defensive wall and shot beyond the net. Victory was ours, 2-0. Time was upon us and everyone was euphoric, when on minute 88 Ismael Sosa from Tigres scored a goal on Cota, the game was on 2-1 and it all seemed like a déjà vu from last game. Tigres was trying to score, but the title was slowly slipping from their hands.
The final whistle came, and the game ended with a global score of 4-3. After 10 years, Chivas was once again Champion of the Liga MX. The stadium was bursting with joy as the Chivas Rayadas del Guadalajara Lifted their new trophy high in their own home, with over 40 million ChivaHermanos.
Here is the 12th! the Chivas are champions, guided by Matias Almeyda, they made history and defeated Tigres to be the new Champions of the Closing Tournament of 2017 of League MX in a full stadium. Against all odds, we won the Star number 12.
