Chivas is the Champion
The Stadium was packed, our Fortaleza was bursting with joy to see our players win the League MX. It was our 12th championship, after not winning anything for the last 11 years. Our luck had changed, we rose from the ashes so the championship.
The fans celebrated the victory with this city’s guardian, la Minerva, who greeted 150 thousand brothers and sisters and celebrated with us. The whole country was celebrating, and our victory surpasses borders, to be part of the Mexican tradition.
Jorge Vergara: “I’m not responsible for this, It’s Matías and the team. I did as much as I can, but they are the protagonists. I’m really happy to be a part of this, we’re a well made team where everyone does their part and this is the result. This team has heart and respect, It’s the beginning of a golden age, and the end the end of a grimm part or our history.
José Luis Higuera: “ It’s an accomplishment for a lot of people who wake up in the morning with hopes in their heart, we are certain that whatever happens we are a team with a plan and a story to tell. This is the result of everyone’s hard work."
Matías Almeyda: “ Great happiness, I feel complete, thankful for being a part of this wonderful party. What we have made with this group of players, plus everyone else on Chivas is now a part of history, it’s sealed. I’m grateful with the millions of fans that have supported us in good times and bad times. A big thank you to Jorge Vergara, who deserves it too”.
Edwin Hernández: “ I wanted to repeat the championship. I begged to God,and he has given me the opportunity to enjoy it again with this amazing team, the fans, and the best team in Mexico. Today we proved that the Mexicans are the best.”.
Orbelín Pineda: “It’s part of my job, my effort, and the blessed soccer that has given me so much and now I enjoy it more than ever. The key was partnership, being humble as brothers who fight together”.
Carlos Salcido: “I Always dreamt it, I wanted the team to be champion, I wanted to raise the cup, I wanted to be part of Chiva’s history, and today I did it. It’s been a great run and we have sacrificed a lot, but we have enjoyed so much. I thank God for giving me this and for our people. I promised to take it too the Minerva to Celebrate.”.
Ángel Zaldívar: “It’s a dream come true, and now that I’m living it, it’s even better. we proved we can do it, get a double championship, we beat big teams with strength and union and everyone’s effort”.
Jair Pereira: “ I’m grateful to god, to Matías, to my teammates for this opportunity and I’m glad to give this title to our fans. I have no words".
Rodolfo Pizarro: “It’s one in a lifetime, the fans deserve it, they never let us down. This is for them".
Miguel Jiménez: “The season means everything to the team, we have been breaking our backs since the pre-season, in every training session, every day and every hour. Now we see the result, thank God. We owed it to our fans and we got the Cup at home.”.
Alan Pulido: “I couldn’t score at the liguilla, but I told myself that I was keeping them for the finals. Thank God I scored twice during the finals that kept us ahead of the board and to win the championship. It’s unforgettable, I’m going to remember this day forever. It’s so nice to enjoy with my teammates and the fans”.
Carlos Fierro: “ My dream was to be a champion and to be at the Minerva. I’ll be there dancing. I’m thankful to my professor Almeyda, who gave me the confidence to come back, and I proved that I wasn’t going to let him down. Chivas is my family”.
Isaac Brizuela: “I’m proud of this is only mexican team, to belong in this club, the greatest in Mexico. The fans and my teammates deserved it, we worked so hard for it and this was our goal since the pre-season. They thought we were crazy, but we knew it was possible”.
Rodolfo Cota: “I’m excited for everything we have been through. Everyone was so nice since I came here and you can see It in the great teamwork we do together. We sacrificed a lot, but we won, our prize is the title. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but facing a strong enemy gave us courage, we showed teamwork, humbleness and that we can pull through anything".
Jesús Sánchez: “ I’m thankful to everyone, for their support. This is an amazing team, so hard working and humble, and that’s the result of team work. No matter who’s playing , we all give our best, we are a family".
